Where I Oughta Be

from Green Beans & Tangerines by Walter Martin

/

about

This is something I originally wrote for a TV show that didn't get used so I reclaimed it and reworked it a bit. As I've mentioned with a couple other songs here, I love writing on assignment because I write about stuff I otherwise wouldn't write about. I honestly love writing about anything and when I'm told what the subject matter needs to be, interesting ideas sometimes open up.

lyrics

LYRICS:

The roads are crossed
And I don't know what's in front of me
One way's home
And the other's to the sea
So toss a coin
And put your hand in my hand
Head's I follow you
Tail's you follow me
But either way I'm where I oughta be

I can see the painted purple mountains
And I can see the river meet the stream
And all I know
When I open up my eyes
Is that all I need is right in front of me
So either way I'm where I oughta be
