The Night is Young

about

This song applies directly to how I'm feeling during the terrible crisis. It's about anxiety, dealing with the fact that the world is broken, anxiously awaiting sunnier days and trying to make yourself feel better by focusing on the simple fact that you still have loved ones you can kiss. I thought the world felt like a scary place when I wrote it last year but now this feels even more real to me.

lyrics

Lyrics:
Lightening bolts light up the sky
A black black shadow flashes by before me
Thunder claps peel back the night
I count the seconds
Oh my, this one's coming for me

I’m waiting on a new day to come
'Cause a stormy heart calms in the sun
But I know this night is young

Darkness takes away my sight
But I can feel the world outside
And, oh man, it's reeling
Trouble visits me at night
So I hide my dreams way up high
In that old ceiling

A restless tune finds my tongue
As the patient moon softly beats the drum
But I know the night is young

I've been waiting all my lonely life for this
This quietness
And I never saw why anyone would ever need any more than this
As I give you one last little kiss
But I know the night is young
