about

This is a remake of my song "Down by the Singing Sea" from my album called Arts & Leisure. Listening back I think I was trying to sound like the Grateful Dead with this version though when I recorded it I thought I was doing a kind of Creedence thing. Anyway, that's my old Vox Continental organ in the right ear. It's my favorite instrument I own and has been on every record I've ever been a part of. The guy I bought it from in 1997 told me it used to be Sheryl Crow's. He was pretty weird and was probably lying but I always chose to believe him. I like Sheryl Crow.

lyrics

LYRICS:

Fish are jumping
I guess they’re hunting
‘Cause every now and then
They catch a fly or something
Down by the singing sea

Sand crabs crawling
Over my shoulder
Pretty lady over there drinking cola cola
Down by the singing sea

While you’re seeping I’ll float between the waves
Hear the country music from a radio faraway
Down by the singing sea

Sticks make a bridge
That spans the ditch
That protects the process from the witch
Down by the singing sea

Shells all fall
From the castle wall
See the water rise up
And drown them all
Down by the singing sea

Hey baby won’t you lay me down in the shade of that coconut tree
‘Cause I declare there’s nowhere that a coconut would rather be
Down by the singing sea
Down by the singing sea
